Turning the Page

Sheila Lamont

I have enjoyed my Imperfectly Honest experience more than I can express.

But lately I have been feeling a pull to create something on my own. Something that may more strongly reflect my personal passions, interests, and all those decades of interesting, weird, and wonderful experiences.

As a sexagenarian (FYI, that means someone in their 60s – just in case your mind went in a non-PG direction), a mom, a grandmom, a former juvenile prosecutor, a nonprofit advocate, and a dabbler in the entrepreneurial and end-of-life worlds, I’ve been finding myself searching for a meshing of my personal/professional backgrounds with current issues. Especially those which are increasingly impactful across the mix of generations.

Yes, that’s a mouthful. And, in case you’re wondering, revisiting my life in dreams is extremely exhausting.

Returning to the point at hand, every day my mind is a bit boggled by new information. The growth of AI into all parts of our lives … advice on what we should eat … how we should interact with family, friends, and work colleagues … the best methods of staying healthy or dealing with illness and even grief ….

And those are just the Instagram stories I scroll through before I get out of bed.

Creating a forum to allow different generations to share perspectives on these issues and other, maybe even less stressful and more amusing content (laughter is good!) seems to have lit a fire inside of me. One which even those recommended 6–8 glasses of water that I force myself to chug down each day can’t seem to extinguish.

I’ll be exploring different formats as I find my way. I envision some episodes involving one-on-one conversations with a guest, while content may also involve bringing in a co-host and others with expertise. I’m also looking forward to soliciting feedback from all of you, potential future subscribers, on a regular basis.  It’s already been our experience on Imperfectly Honest that engaged listeners can make the best podcast guests!

The other day Elizabeth and I joked that even the Beatles eventually went their separate ways. She and I are still working on who might be who in that scenario. Surprisingly, Ringo’s name never came up in that discussion.

My friendship and regular phone conversations with Elizabeth will undoubtably continue, but we just won’t have to hit that record button.

I’ll continue with my blogging also. Where would I be without a medium with which to share links to the music and visuals that fit my musings?

I’m still in the formative, inside-my-own-head, planning stages on a lot of the elements required to get a new podcast/blogging site(s) fully formed and operational. I’ve appreciated having all of you out there, listening to and reading my thoughts and perspectives. And, once things are up and running, I will send an email out, giving you a chance to subscribe!

In closing, and definitely in the spirit of those fun musical interludes mentioned earlier, here’s one final link. This is, hands down, THE video that I go to on a regular basis to bring a smile to my face and maybe get me on my feet. It is absolutely 3 minutes of pure joy.
