Questions to Ask at the Start of a New Year

Elizabeth Kraus

With 2025 around the corner, I spent some time thinking about how to clarify my aspirations for the New Year. These are a few of the best questions I sourced from my research online to help me find my answers. They might help you find your answers as well.

Lessons from Last Year

What are 10 things about this past year that you feel truly grateful for?

When you think about times in which you were at least somewhat in control of your circumstances, when were you happiest?

  • What kinds of things were you doing?
  • With whom were you spending time?

Looking Forward to Next Year

What type of person do you aim to be in the coming year?

What’s a quote or idea you’d like to use as a mantra in the coming year?

What’s one goal (big or small) you’re excited to work on in the coming year?

What limiting beliefs or fears are holding you back from pursuing your dreams? How can you release these beliefs or fears?

What do you need to release in your life? How can you let go of these things/experiences/people/beliefs to make space for something new?

A few other great questions I found include:
